Walker joins Hospice Niagara to celebrate the Opening of Maison Walker | Walker House

NIAGARA, ON [Aug 28, 2025] – Walker Industries (Walker) was honored to participate in a significant milestone for Hospice Niagara—the grand opening ceremony of the 10-unit Walker House located in Welland, ON. This purpose-built residence is more than a building — it is a commitment to ensuring that people and families across our community have access to compassionate, person-centered end-of-life care when they need it most.

Walker’s President and CEO, Geordie Walker and members of the Walker team were in attendance to support the opening of the Walker House.

“Supporting the community is incredibly important to Walker, it is a foundation of our values. Partnerships such as the one we have with Hospice Niagara are essential to Walker Industries’ mission to build a sustainable future, together,” said Geordie Walker, President and CEO of Walker Industries. “We are proud to continue our support for Hospice Niagara and the important care they provide for our most vulnerable community members in our region, not only through monetary donations, but also through volunteering.”

The Walker family and Walker Industries have built a longstanding relationship with Hospice Niagara, supporting the 2006 construction of the St. Catharines Stabler Centre, and in 2021 with the $1.5 million donation to support the construction of the Walker House in Welland.

“Walker House is more than just a building — it’s a reflection of our community’s compassion,” says Carol Nagy, Executive Director of Hospice Niagara. “For many years, Walker Industries has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to health and social care organizations across Niagara, consistently investing in the well-being of our communities. Their partnership with Hospice Niagara reflects a shared dedication to care, community, and compassion. Their leadership and generosity are helping ensure that more people and families have access to the comfort, dignity, and support they deserve. We are deeply grateful for their long-standing dedication to making a meaningful difference in people’s lives.”

Members of the Walker family and Walker employees have also had the chance to volunteer with Hospice Niagara, allowing those to take part in providing the compassionate services this organization offers.

Since 1887, Walker has proudly served the Niagara Region, building a legacy rooted in community care and environmental stewardship. Walker empowers every employee to give back, offering two fully paid volunteer days each year and in 2024 alone, Walker employees dedicated over 4,000 hours to volunteering across local communities.

Walker aims to increase its volunteering efforts each year to support our Neighbours and looks forward to working with Hospice Niagara to find volunteering opportunities at their centers for years to come.
