Niagara Region: Waste Drop-Off Information

Only applicable to ➔ Small dump trucks • Pick up trucks • Trucks w/ hitch trailers • Passenger vehicles

Acceptable Materials

01. WASTE

  • Household waste, furniture, mattresses
  • Appliances (fee for appliances with CFCs)
  • Construction and demolition materials
    • Insulation must be bagged
  • Drywall, shingles, PVC and ABS pipe
  • Soil, sod, dirt (charged at household waste tipping fee)
  • Clean wood (not painted or pressure treated)
  • Clean asphalt (no rebar)
  • Clean concrete (no rebar/mesh, no dirt/soil, no concrete blocks, no patio stones, no red brick/tile, no waste, no wood, no concrete washout)
  • Styrofoam
  • Contractor leaf and yard waste
  • Residential leaf and yard waste ( for drop-off entrance and follow on-site signage)

02. LEAF AND YARD WASTE

  • Contractor leaf and yard waste – use Waste & Recycling Drop-off Depot scale entrance
  • Residential leaf and yard waste – use Compost Facilities entrance ( )

03. RECYCLABLES

  • Blue and grey box materials (newspaper, cardboard, mixed paper, glass, cans, plastics)
  • Scrap metal (clean metal only)
  • Bicycles
  • Electronics (display devices, computers, printers/peripherals; limit of 5 per category)
  • Used clothing
  • White goods (appliances without CFCs)
  • Passenger car and light truck tires with or without rims (limit of 10 per vehicle)
  • Lithium and alkaline batteries (both ends of lithium, button cell and 9-volt batteries must be taped for safety)

This site does not accept

  • Household hazardous waste (paint cans, vehicle batteries, etc.)
    • These are accepted year round at Niagara Region drop-off depots. Please visit niagararegion.ca/waste to find a depot near you or for the site closest to Walker.

All residential and commercial customers must fill out a Waste Stream Information Sheet prior to visiting this site.

Acceptable Materials

01. PRE-APPROVED WASTE

  • Construction and demolition waste from non-industrial sources
  • Drywall
  • Industrial, commercial and institutional waste similar to curbside waste (i.e. lunchroom waste, office waste, janitorial waste, restaurant waste)
  • Grocery and other food waste
  • Roofing waste from non-industrial sources
  • Textiles
  • Non-hazardous household goods (no paints or oils)
  • White goods – refrigerators and air conditioners must be tagged showing CFCs have been removed

02. PRE-APPROVED FOOD WASTE/ORGANICS

03. MATERIALS REQUIRING TESTING & APPROVAL

  • Industrial waste streams including sand waste, grinding waste, slag, sludge or any other waste byproducts of production
  • Railway ties and telephone poles
  • Soil
  • Empty containers or liners from empty containers that last contained non-hazardous materials (drums must be cut in two or crushed)
  • Roofing waste from industrial sources

04. ASBESTOS

  • Asbestos disposals must be booked 24 hours in advance

Asbestos Disposal

RULES & REGULATIONS FOR ASBESTOS DISPOSAL

  • Disposal must be booked online 24 hours in advance – book here
  • Material can only be disposed between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
  • Material must be completely encased in 6ml poly with no fear of breaking open when offloading
  • Material must be hauled by a hauler that is licensed to transport asbestos
  • All drivers must have PPE (hard hat, safety boots and vest) for admittance to the site or they will be turned away
