Walker Construction Announces New Leadership to Support Growth

[Wednesday, June 24] NIAGARA, ON – Walker Industries Ltd. (Walker) announces new leadership for Walker Construction Ltd. (Walker Construction) operations as it prepares for growing infrastructure needs across Ontario.

Ben Dutchak has been appointed General Manager of Walker Construction South. Ben joined Walker in 2022 as Manager of Major Projects and brings more than 15 years of construction experience across the industry. Walker Construction operates across Ontario, with head offices in Niagara and Grey-Bruce (Kemble and Hanover). Walker Construction North is led by Jason Hamilton, General Manager.

As demand for new and upgraded infrastructure rises over the coming decades, Walker is well positioned to support these needs through its road construction capabilities and pavement preservation technologies. Walker supplies a full range of services and building materials, including site servicing and reconstruction, asphalt paving and supply, aggregates, ready-mix concrete, specialty stone, located near growing markets.

Additionally, Derek Nunn, P.Eng. takes on the new role of Director of Pavement Preservation. Derek has been instrumental in Walker’s growth of its emulsion-based products for construction across Ontario. Joining Walker in 2007, Derek is the leading industry expert in innovative technologies that support extending the life of municipal infrastructure.

This announcement follows the retirement of John Blake, longtime General Manager of Walker Niagara Construction, after 17 years. “John has been a respected leader in Niagara’s construction community and at Walker throughout his career, we thank John for his dedication and wish him a well-earned retirement,” said Stephen Mitchell, Vice President, Walker Construction
